Club History:
Charlemont Star Football Club was founded in 1957. We played originally on pitches at Bird End, Charlemont in West Bromwich. For many years played our home games at Hydes Road Playing Fields.
1957 – 2002
Played in the West Bromwich Sunday League and latterly named the Sandwell League. In the 1960s there were some very good sides in the area, teams like The Bush, Wones United, Prince Regent, White Swan and Churchfield Tavern. The Bush were one of the best teams then, but Charlemont Star were equal to them. We played the Bush FC in two finals, one in the Premier Cup, and we drew 1-1. The final was replayed and the Star won 2-1, a very hard match with end-to-end football. We played the second in the Charity Cup, another draw, and in the replay Bush FC won 3-1.
We finished the season runners-up in the league, one point behind the Bush FC.
2002 – 2006
The Star played in the Birmingham Festival League. In 2003 we won the Senior Amateur League and won promotion to Festival League Division Two, we also reached our division cup semi-final losing 2-1 to Water Orton United.
2003-04, we reached the 5th Round of the Birmingham County FA Junior Cup.
2004-05, we won promotion to Festival League Division Two finishing runners-up to Bartley Green. We also reached the semi-final of the Birmingham County FA Junior Cup losing 3-1 to Perton Village.
