The rain started early this morning, by 9:45 it was hammering down but the nets were up and everyone was in the dry getting changed. The conditions would be tricky for everyone.
The game started very tense and everyone was really trying to prove a point in the first match of the season.
Saint Michael took the lead 10 minutes into the first half and followed it up around the half hour mark after with a second goal. That put us on the back foot.
About 5 minutes before half time Joe Davis scored from around 30 yards out and put us back in with a shout at 1-2 to Saint Michael. This remained the score at half time.
The second half started much the same as the first, fitness clearly playing an issue on both sides, but Saint Michael came out the blocks a little faster and caught us napping, suddenly about 10 minutes into the second half we were 1-3 down.
This is when it changed, we switched a few things and suddenly played with a rejuvenated spirit. Peter Johnson scored near to the hour mark and followed it up around the 70th minute with a cool finish from Ed Davies.
The game ended 3-3 which considering the conditions was a fair result on both sides.
Good luck to Saint Michael for the rest of the season!
