City Church 1 v 5 St Marys

An excellent start to the season for St Marys as we came out of the blocks fast and I think took City by surprise taking a 2 goal lead from a succession of chances. It was 2v1 at half time, with City pulling one back after about 35mins from a 40 yard Louden pile driver of a free kick which took a wicked deflection. They also predictably put us under pressure a couple of times from a succession of corners but we held firm, and missed some gilt-edged chances to kill the game off from some flowing football. We carried on where we left off in the 2nd half and added 3 more, another cool Coleman finish, a poachers goal from Aaron Jones and a miss hit cross from Ali Davis (he may disagree on that description…). The front two both played well, forming a good partnership, with Coleman taking the match ball today. The midfield worked tirelessly and linked in well, with the defence resilient, I couldn’t ask for more from the guys in my first game as manager. Now for St Thomas next week to avenge our cup exit last season…
