Missing players, poor availabilities, lack of form and what appeared to be a lack of passion, meant that SK’s inconsistent performances continue, this time against bottom of the table Sandwell United.
More changes were required as SK’s squad was depleted due to poor availabilities once again
One good sight was Ben Virgo making the bench for his first appearance of the season after a long injury lay off.
The weather was also a big factor today, with gale force winds not making it easy for football to be played by either side.
SK scored first and inevitably the prolific Ralph Richardson was the scorer. Sandwell equalised before Chris Freeth rose perfectly to meet Richardsons pin point corner to head home, 2-1…… Richardson then added his second and SK’s 3rd, slotting home perfectly after some decent approach play. So half time came with SK 3-1 to the good and looking comfortable
How wrong I was………….The second half saw SK under the cosh from the kick off as the wind played havoc. Sandwell were playing long balls forward, which their pacey forward exploited expertly and the SK defence struggled to cope with this. In fairness Sandwell took advantage of the conditions and indeed used the conditions well, punishing a sloppy SK by scoring 4 goals in a terrible 2nd half for SK. The excellent Ralph Richardson still had time to complete his 5th hatrick of the season (thats 16 goals in 6 games since joining SK) and the game ended 4-5
Corinthians failed again to come away from this game with any points, and to be fair, that’s probably just what we deserved after such an inept display. Congratulations to Sandwell on a gutsy and passionate performance.
A major change in attitude is required if Corinthians are going to end the season on a high…………. starting next week against Dudley Lions
