Complacency was the the biggest problem for us in the 1st half as Hawbush started, and finished, with 10 men, and several passing seagulls had their lives threatened with a string of wayward shots that barely troubled the ‘Bushes keeper, so it was with great fortune we found ourselves coming in at half time 1-0 up after good chasing down by Ryan Cartwright.
The half time talk lead to some harsh truths regarding promotion being gained that day, so we started the 2nd half much brighter and determined, and this showed with some much better spells of passing and led to further goals from Steve Devonport, Lewis Hill and the returning Sam Overfield to leave the final score of 4-0 and thus give us the 3 points needed for promotion to the 2nd Division.
Now we’ve achieved that particular goal, we now find ourselves in an extremely exciting position of knowing we now have 4 massive games ahead that could possibly lead to even bigger things before the end of the season, a situation I would have bitten anyone’s hand off at the end of September for!!!
A huge mention must go to quite possibly the most spirited of team’s in the 3rd division this year in Hawbush F.C., they are an absolute credit to Simon Ashby and Steve Cook in the way they perform and handle themselves on and off the pitch. I’m sure they are destined for a great future with those two at the helm.
