Hawbush 0 Living Hope 9

Steve Farley writes,

It took just five minutes for Pete to open his account – Andy found Cal down the right wing who slipped the ball inside to Pete who decided to have a pop from 20 yards, 0-1.

Half an hour later it was two. A corner was only half cleared and fell to Gregg to volley home from close range. 0-2.

Within a minute it was three. Hawbush lost possession from the kick off as Nick won the ball and laid it wide to Mart. Mart’s pass found Pete who finished with deadly accuracy, 0-3

Half time came and went and a further six goals ensued. First a glancing near post header by Callum from a Pete corner. Next came Pete’s third as he beat the off side trap after an early ball from Nick. After that Jack scored a headed corner kick supplied by Callum. The seventh was a cheeky flick from close range as Callum picked up a rebound off the post when Gregg missed an open goal…..

The final two goals were headers by Chrissy T and Supersub Nathan Brain.

Despite the easy score line the second half was pretty tense as scores were fed through from Bantock Park. To our relief Zion City eventually got the better of Pye Green and the Division Three Title Race is now back in our hands. Credit goes to Zion City who are the form team in our division and have now beat the top two teams this month.

We play Hawbush again in our final league game next month but we will have to be at our best again to beat them. Don’t forget that this season they have led 3-0 against both us and Zion before faltering in the second half and a tough game is to be expected.
