Hawbush 0 – Wednesbury Baptist 9

Yesterday saw take us take on Hawbush, a team full of young talented players with a few experienced heads dotted throughout and given time they could well have a real competitive team over the next few years and beyond.

The game started brightly with Hawbush starting proceedings but we hustled and pressured them into an early mistake and we capitalised instantly when Craig smashed the ball over the keeper into the top corner for his first of the season, 1-0 with under a minute played. This early goal had clearly knocked Hawbush has they found it difficult to string passes together which was also in part down our constant closing down and pressure applied. Craig then doubled his tally for the season within the first 5 minutes after some good build up play from the team, it was soon 3-0 when Robbie went on a marauding run from right back before combining for a 1-2 and finishing with aplomb 3-0. Pete then got in on the act after some great work from ‘Tino’ who was a constant threat with his persistent running, 4-0. Nick then once again got himself on the scorers list. Half time 5-0.

The 2nd half with us keeping the ball and playing it around without any real urgency and bided our time to play those killer passes, 15 minutes in and we extended our lead through Pete’s 2nd and Craig’s 3rd to make it 7-0. The majority of the game seemed to play itself out with us keeping the ball and both teams fashioning chances and it remained 7-0 until the last 5 minutes of the game where Pete completed his hat trick and Nick added his 2nd to cap off what was a fantastic game and performance from all the lads. Full Time 9-0.
