Living Hope 3 Dudley Lions 1

Steve Farley writes.

Probably our best team effort of the season (and it needed to be) saw us wrap this up by half time. Dudley Lions looked very good but weren’t allowed to play as we closed them down and we didn’t give them an inch. At the other end we found the finishing powers that deserted us last week to go in 3-0 up at half time.

The first goal came after 15 minutes when Craig sparked into life with a great run down the right wing skinning his marker and delivered an inch perfect cross for Pete to head home.

Dudley had been playing a slick off side trap but after half a dozen or so successes Gregg finally unlocked the system with a lob over the back four line for Pete to run on to. Pete was one on one with the goalie only for the keeper to miss his clearance leaving Pete a simple tap in.

Two minutes later it was three when Martin fired a crossfield long ball that found Gregg unmarked for an easy finish.

The second half was fairly even. Dudley battled well but we contained them until they scored in injury time. Final Score 3-1

This was a very important win for us as we are now virtually assured the runners up spot (barring a faint mathematical possibility) so well done to everyone at LHCFC.
