Living Hope 3 Place of Refuge 1

Steve Farley writes,
PoR turned up with an almost unrecognisable lineup to the one from last week. Any thoughts of an easy stroll were soon dismissed as PoR put in a very hard working display.

Both teams had chances early on but PoR were rewarded with a penalty after 25 minutes that was easily dispatched. Just like last week this seemed to awaken LHC from its slumbers. However our equaliser came from a fine save from Carl that started the attack that led to the equaliser. Pete setting Callum up who made no mistake drilling home from an acute angle. HT 1-1

The second half was as tough as the first and spectators were left to do mental arithmetic to figure out that a draw would virtually knock us out of the cup!

We needn’t have worried. A free kick from Pete found the head of Chrissy T who in turn found Jack who volleyed in from close range. In the meantime Matt cleared off the line and PoR continued to press. I think our back four were superb today. Matt, Robbie, Chrissy T and Andy were first to everything to ensure we held on to our slim lead.

It was left until 85 minutes for LHC to seal the win. Pete was again the provider setting up Brainy with a one on one with the keeper and he made no mistake. Final Score 3-1.

LHCFC celebrates it’s fifth birthday in April. Yes five years since our first training session when just two managers and four players attended. How fitting then that we will be playing the most exciting fixtures in our short history. Tough games against Zion and Dudley and then a semi final against Pye Green. It will be an interesting month!
