First of all may I congratulate the lads on winning Division 3. It’s been a topsy tervy season with us chasing the league leaders for most of the season. Can I thank Pye Green for an excellent title race and making it an interesting season long battle.
The game itself was not the cut and dried outcome many were expecting. Hawbush battled and hassled us for the full 90 minutes.
We did hit the woodwork six times which kept the tension high but in the end we did enough to win it.
Martin scored both our goals in the first half. A fine passage of play saw LHC keep possession before Callum found Mart inside the box. Mart proceeded to turn his marker, giving him all the time in the world to pick his spot.
The second came just before half time. An LHC breakaway saw Andy swiftly clear the ball to Pete who quickly split the defence with a through ball for Martin to run on to and beat the keeper. Half Time 2-0.
The second half saw LHC concede just the single goal and what a goal it was! The Hawbush number 8 who was by far their best player over the two games challenged for long ball and spotting Carl off his line belted a 40 yard volley over the top of him hitting it perfectly into the top left hand corner.
I hope Hawbush keep going next season. They are a very young team and a great bunch of lads. I don’t think they will finish bottom next season.
Finally can I thank everyone who has played for us, served us or supported us over the past five seasons since our inception exactly five years ago. Also can I thank Living Hope Church for allowing us to play under their banner, the WMCFL committee, and all the referees that have officiated us.
