Maple Leaf 1 Living Hope 6

LHC pretty much dominated but were made to work hard to earn the three points. An injury time brace from Craig probably made the score line worse than Maple Leaf deserved.
The first goal came fifteen minutes into the game. A flicked header from Callum set Craig free on the right. His cross perfect for Pete to volley in 0-1
On 36 minutes Pete’s right side corner was flicked on by Webby for Robbie to volley in from 5 yards. Within a minute Craig found Pete whose shot hit the post. Half time 0-2
The start of the second half saw us go further ahead when Martin made a diagonal run into box before receiving the ball at his feet from Pete. Continuing his run his far post shot comfortably beating the keeper 0-3.
Maple Leaf grabbed one back on the hour mark with a good header but within five minutes our three goal lead was restored. Pete again involved in the goal, this time he turned his defender before the slotting ball inside to Callum who scored with a cheeky back heel 1-4
The game looked to be fizzling out as ninety minutes approached. Having been unlucky earlier on Craig suddenly set the game alive again with an injury time brace. First a nice one-two with Callum who laid it onto Gregg. Gregg passed to Craig who beat a player and shot under pressure to score from close range. Within a minute Pete passed to Craig who shot was deflected in by a defender. Final score 1-6.
A good performance overall. Despite our attacking players getting all the plaudits it was indeed a good team performance with the defensive players putting in some sterling efforts to keep Maple Leaf at bay. This was exemplified by our man of the match Nick whose work rate and effort in Central midfield minimised the number of Maple Leaf attacks. At the other end Maple Leaf keeper must be one of the best in the Division as he pulled off several great saves.
