With dreams of a Division Three League and Cup double, it was essential that we got off to a flying start and it was our player of the season nominee Pete Falconer who calmed the nerves after just four minutes. In possesion on the left hand side of the box he cleverly wriggled through a couple of defenders before carefully placing a shot with the outside of his right foot that hit the far post before bobbling in.
LHC generally dominated the remainder of the half by showing a blistering work rate that our opponents couldn’t match (cue Neil’s comments on LHC versus Hawbush in last weeks Kovacs Kolumn!) our dominance paid off two minutes before half time when Jack rose majestically to meet Pete’s corner with a firm header. HT 0-2.
Pye Green had no option but to chase the game in the second half and reaped a reward fifteen minutes in with a fine free kick. Twenty five yards out and level with our right hand post, a low drive crept around the outside of the defensive wall and just inside the post to set up an exciting finish. Defensively we won out though with our back four standing firm and our man of the match Chrissy T winning the aerial battle with countless headed clearances.
This was a great team effort with effort being the operative word. Everyone gave 120% and even the lads not having a good game put a shift in. Well done guys!
