Sheldon put us under real pressure in the opening minutes missing a good chance from a header and then being denied by keeper Richard Corbett who made a good save in a one on one situation. We gradually got back into the game and held our own until the 25th minute conceding following a corner and fell further behind a minute later to an excellent strike from 35 yards. Despite this setback we battled away playing some decent football and at the interval we really believed we could get something from the game. Our hopes were dashed when straight from the whistle our defence parted like the Red Sea and allowed Sheldon to walk the ball into the net in less than 20 seconds. Three nil down with the whole of the second half remaining it looked like game over but Tommy Wright changed all that with an excellent strike on 48 minutes…and from then on we started to cause Sheldon problems. Tommy then got a smart second goal on 64 minutes but Sheldon got their fourth 3 minutes later to settle the game. A good performance from us against a confident, skilful Sheldon team who have some excellent players – we wish them well.
