A good solid win today against a Clarendon team who still have a lot of the pace and skill which took them to Leagues and Cups. We started slowly but got into the game and scored on the break with Phil kicking the ball out of his hands up to Coleman who ran at the defence and squared for Coyne to slide in. Clarendon tried to respond but we kept firm despite a succession of corners and some pressure, whilst always looking dangerous ourselves and Clarendon failing to really test Phil in Goal.
2nd half was much of the same although Phil was busier than in the first half saving well with his feet, then taking the ball off a strikers feet and then tipping the ball over from a scorcher of a shot with a save that would have been shown a few times if it was on MOTD. In between these chances we created our own and one of these resulted in Wiedeman jumping with the keeper from a corner who spilled the ball for De Lacy to tap in.
Overall this was a hard fought win, with us being slightly more solid and clinical when chances came. I am sure Clarendon will still have a say in the title with All Saints and Sheldon still to play.
