Having had two close friendlies with Chawn since their reincarnation we new that we would be in for a tough game, and despite the scoreline at 90 minutes it was. Despite an emphasis on starting quickly, it was Chawn who were sharper from KO and they took the lead when the ball dropped in the box from a half clearance and one of the ‘original’ Chawn players Curtis Jordan placed in a nice finish.
We responded to this well and Coleman had a one on one chance after some good play and a slotted through ball, however the Chawn keeper saved well. However the equaliser did eventually come with Coleman curling in a quality finish from the edge of the 18 yard box. We continued to push and went in at HT 2v1 up thanks to a quick throw down the line by Buller to myself (Myatt) where I found myself in the right wing position after I had been up for a corner, a call of ‘play for the corner’ was heard, but I ‘whipped’ a cross in for Wiedeman to expertly take down and finish with aplomb! New position next week maybe…
In the second half we managed to contain Chawn and gradually add to our lead whilst being careful as they continued to break with pace. Wiedeman made it 3v1 after around 65 minutes with a good leap and header. It stayed this way until near the end when Rudd got his first goal for the club with a smart finish. Beeson (Tink) then made it 5 and a more flattering scoreline with the last kick of the game. He controlled a good ball through and then scooped the ball over the keeper continuing his record of scoring in every game has played this season,
Overall a good result against a Chawn team who had 2 wins out of 3 prior to the game, and will take quite a few points of teams this season!
