After an extended Christmas break we just about got this one on, with us moving the match from our ususal pitch to the adjecent one once we already had the nets up due to the referee not being happy with the one goalmouth which we had thought looked fine!
The game started with us kicking up hill and Corinthians taking advantage of some sloppy play from us to create a few half chances. However once we started to get the ball out wide and into Coleman and Wiedeman’s feet the SK defence found it hard to cope and we were 3-0 ahead by half time, the pick of which was a screamer into the top corner by Locke, and in reality it could have been more. Saying that SK continued to push, looking a threat with the ball over the top to their two fast strikers and hitting a free kick narrowly over from a good position.
We also started the 2nd half slowly, without looking like conceding, but gradually improved and got a 4th goal, (Coleman’s hat-trick), after around 55 minutes. Following the 4th goal we made a couple of substitutions with Morrison and Oldham coming on, with Mark Coleman following 10 minutes later. We continued to push with Morrison getting two goals and Sheward the 7th with Coleman involved in at least two of them. This was interspersed with their CM being dismissed for foul and abusive, and Locke going off injured after we had used 3 subs resulting in both teams being down to 10 men.
Overall a good workout for our first game after Christmas, but we will need to carry it on next week away at Halesowen which is never an easy game.
