We made the long trip down to Kidderminster with just myself (Myatt) and a crocked Andy Harris on the bench, which became just a crocked Andy when Coleman went down after 30 seconds… Even so we had a strong team out and it was an even game with defences on top until Zions centre mid let frustration get the better of him and they were down to 10 men. Even then it was hard to tell that Zion had 10 men as we struggled to create chances as they remained well organised. We were understandably keeping more and more possession and this eventually told when we forced a corner and Sheward curled it straight in via the slightest flick from a defender. It remained this way until half time and we could tell that Zion felt that they were still in with a chance.
Second half we played much better and controlled the game from the off but again Zion were resolute and we had to wait 20 minutes until Tink Beeson effectively ended the game with a bullet header from another Sheward corner.
Sheward then rounded off a great display by whipping in another free kick from the left which evaded everyone bar another slight flick from a Zion head and ended up in the far corner. (Weirdly when we played Zion away last season (i think) we also scored 3 goals direct from set pieces)
We then proceeded to relax thinking the job was done, and straight from kick off Zion reminded us it wasnt as we allowed Leon to run half the length of the pitch to the edge of the area unchallenged and curl the ball over Phil into the top corner.
This should have woken us up but with Zion going for it they sensed that they could get back into the game. Luckily for us it was not to be and we secured the 3 v 1 win.
