Todays Preview

Well, took the dog for his walk over the fields around 11pm but I am not sure who was more worn out as I sat down and wallop, spark out asleep for me. So waking up at 5am my first thought was, crikey, got to get the Prediction Challenge on there especially as others have put the effort in with their forecasts. It’s a toughie to predict this week with nearly every game having its merits for a draw. In the end I only went for 3 draws but most of the scores are close. I like putting my scores in and then seeing what my opponent for the day has put hoping that we have totally different predictions. This weeks challenger is Andres from Maple Leaf Rovers Q.M.C. (I wonder how many people know what the Q.M.C stands for? Well it’s Quinton Methodist Church). Well this week we have gone for the same prediction for 5 games but only 1 game sees us putting the same score with strangely enough that game being Maple Leafs match against Hawbush with us both plumping for a 4-0 win to Maple Leaf. Maybe that’s the Hawbush team talk done for the day…..let’s prove them both wrong! Andres did ask if he had to do his own match and in Pete Bennetts words the response is, “make us suffer” I wonder if anyone will predict themselves to lose this season when it’s their turn?

The match of the day in Division 1 has to be Connect Sports vs St Mary’s and any forecast for this would have had its merits. I’m going for Connect to inflict St Mary’s first defeat for over a year based on Johns match report from last week. If they start off slowly as they did against Monyhull and Connect attack right from the start I can see Connect getting the 3 points, I think the first 20 minutes may be crucial in this match.

Chawn Hill need to find their attacking form quickly having only scored 2 goals in 2 games. Zion on the other hand are averaging just over 2 a game but are also letting in the same. My head is saying an away win but that niggling feeling is for a draw. So a draw it is!

Monyhull had a bad day last week but it wasn’t as it appeared with them giving a good account of themselves before being reduced to 10 men. Charlemont are normally tough to score against but have conceded 9 in 3 so far this season. A moral boosting win for Monyhull but any result would not surprise me here.

Rowley are short up front at the moment according to Pete and if that’s still the case today then I can only see a Clarendon win. Andres has gone for a 4-1 win for them but I think it will be closer than that. Pete is missing again today so I believe it’s up to Mark and Mike to get Rowley fired up for the day. If Southall is at center back then they will be a tough nut to crack, but I think Clarendon will do so.

Wednesbury found out what Division 1 is all about when they came crashing down to earth with 4-1 defeat to Connect last weekend. They play City Church today who had a good 2-1 win over Rowley 7 days ago. I believe that Wednesbury will get back on track today and also expect to see Falconers name on the score sheet.

Renwal Solihull are finding life difficult in Division 1 and I don’t think it will feel any better come 12.30 this afternoon. I’m going for a home win for W’ton & Perton but again think this could be a draw.

I’m uncertain in Div 2 about St Matthew’s Walsall vs Living Hope Church United. St Matt’s have only played 1 game so far and that was a good win over Maple Leaf on the first day of the season but Living Hope had a tremendous win over Zion City last weekend. Sitting on the fence for this and going for a draw.

Brierley Hill A.O.G vs Dudley Lions sees me going for a home win and Andres an away win so it will probably be a draw. The South Rd lads are finding the back of the net more this season but need to tighten up at the back, if they do so today then they should bag the 3 points.

The only score that we have both predicted is a 4-0 win for Maple Leaf over Hawbush today but looking back at last weeks scores and seeing that Hawbush only lost 3-0 against Corinthians has me doubting my own forecast. Oh well, bit late to be changing my mind now.

Corinthians S.K play Sandwell United today who have yet to register a win. The match report from their game last week against St Michael seems to show they do possess a good attacking threat down their right wing but I don’t think they carry enough of a threat to win this one.

Zion City were another team who hit a brick wall last week losing 5-0 to Living Hope. How will they respond today? I think they will get back on track with a narrow 2-0 win over St Michael who carry a good attacking threat having scored 11 in 3. I just think Zion will see this one through but need to be fully focused in defence all game.

The last game sees Selly Oak Methodist playing St Thomas’ Aldridge with both teams at the lower end of the table. I’m tipping Selly Oak to just pinch this one but with 17 goals being scored in St Thomas’ 3 games so far anything could happen here.

So an extended preview this week but here is the all important Prediction Challenge forecast:
