Kovacs’ Kolumn 4th January 2014

Firstly, may I once again take this opportunity to wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year.

I am anticipating a fair few games to fall foul of the weather this weekend and with me not having much time, this weeks Kolumn will be brief.

Division One

Some huge games this weekend and none more so than Sheldon vs All Saints Olympic. With St Mary’s likely to take all 3 points in their game away to Sandwell, this is a must win game for All Saints if they are to keep any flickering hopes of the title alive. Sheldon can afford a slip up on the way to the title and I believe this may be one of them. At the other end of the table, Halesowen Zion face St Thomas Aldridge. This really could be a pivotal game for these 2 teams come seasons end. Both teams need there goalscorers for this game, Tom Doran and Tommy Wright being the obvious candidates but I reckon Halesowen may just pinch this by the odd goal. I believe Amblecote will come away from their match with Corinthians SK with a point. Zion Athletic have Rowley College visiting and if the pitch is deemed playable, ( I have just past it and it’s doubtful), then a draw is my forecast for this game.

Division Two

Another huge game in Division Two sees Connect Sports travel to play Chawn Hill Church with the winners strengthening their claim to be Champions. Chawn may benefit from having played regularly over the last few weeks but Connect will be fresh and this is a tough one to call. However, having tipped Chawn to become Champions they need to win this game and I think they will nick it by the odd goal. Wolverhampton and Perton should put pressure on the top teams with a win over Selly Oak Methodist although I doubt that this fixture will take place with more rain forecast. Charlemont host Wollaston with both teams able to play for fun, I just fancy a 2-1 win for Charlemont here.

Division Three

With Pye Green Towers having the week off, the next 2 placed teams face each other in yet another huge game with both teams needing to win. Dudley Lions have been scoring for fun recently and Living Hope Church are on a roll. This really could be a classic goals filled game but I just take the added experience of Living Hopes lads to pinch the points. Yet another huge tussle sees the improving Zion City host Place Of Refuge Community Church. Yet another game that could go either way, so I’m sitting on the fence and forecasting a draw. The last game, and probably the only game I am confident will actually take place sees Hawbush take on Maple Leaf Rovers at South Rd. Maple Leaf have really struggled with form recently and whilst Hawbush are still struggling I believe they may well come away with a point a piece from this game.

We will try and update the site as quickly as possible should any game be postponed. However, if you are in any doubt as a player your first point of call should be your Club Secretary.
