Kovacs’ Kolumn Preview 15th March

We have the Cup Semi Finals tomorrow with all 4 Clubs who are competing from Division One. Both ties are hard to call, firstly with unbeaten Sheldon facing Clarendon who we all know are a formidable force. Sheldon beat Clarendon 4-1 on the first week of the season but I think that the lack of football lately will have a serious effect on them, whereas, Clarendon have had a couple of matches recently. Match sharpness counts in games like this and I tip Clarendon to win. The second semi is a repeat of last seasons Final with Zion Athletic playing All Saints Olympic. Zion have made the last 3 Finals but I tip All Saints to feature in their second successive Final with a win. Whatever the results, I would imagine that there will be some good football played in both matches, which are both being palyed at Amblecotes home venue of Brown Westhead Park.

Amblecote face Sandwell United in Division 1 and a win will help push them away from the relegation area. Amblecote to win by 3.

St Thomas’ Aldridge, who also languish near the bottom, need a win against Corinthians Sk to keep in touch with the teams above. Howeevr, whilst Corinthians are below them I’m predicting A Corinthians win.

Charlemont Star have forced their way into the promotion race with some good results of late. Their game against Renewal Solihull tomorrow could enhance their chances further. However, Solihull, with the newly signed Darren Moore, (ex WBA), may now prove a tougher nut to crack. I’m going for a draw.

I expect Darkhouse to notch another win against Selly Oak Methodist, who now surely seem doomed for the trap door.

A few months ago it would have been an easy call to pick Connect Sports to beat Rockmount United. But Rockmount have improved of late and I’m going for another draw here.

Living Hope Church face Hawbush and I’m not expecting a surprise result here. I fully expect a 5 goal winning margin for Living Hope, a result that will put them within touching distance of Pye Green Towers.

Bottom placed Monyhull Church play Saint Michael who have improved recently. Saint Michael should win this.

Zion City had a great result last week and have another tough match tomorrow against Place Of Refuge Community Church. I think it’s too big a task for Zion to get into the top 3 but Place Of Refuge need to win this to stay in the hunt at the top. This is a toughie to call, but I will go with a Zion win.

2 more games tomorrow in the Div 3 Cup. One tie is between 2 clubs who started the season well but fell apart in the second half. Maple Leaf Rovers QMC host Brierley Hill AOG. Forecast…..Draw.

The other tie is between Pye Green Towers and Dudley Lions. This will be a test on how far Dudley have come over the past few months. I’m tipping Pye Green to win.

Sorry my forecasts are late, but it has been a hectic week!
