December 7th Kovacs’ Kolumn Preview

Edited on Saturday 7th December, I forgot Sheldon vs Clarendon was not on, so deleted my prediction of that one lol !!!

With most teams virtually at the half way stage of the season every game starts to take on added importance. Tomorrow sees the opening day fixtures reversed, maybe a chance to seek revenge for a defeat for some Clubs?

Division One

In my eyes there are 2 huge games in Division One tomorrow; St Mary’s host City Church whilst Clarendon visit Sheldon. If the home team wins in both of these matches then the pressure really will be on the chasing pack to win every game! St Marys flew out of the blocks at the start of the season bashing City Church 5-1, however, there last few games have been tight affairs and with City suffering a surprise defeat last week I expect this to be another tight game ending in a draw.

All Saints Olympic drew with Corinthians Sk 2-2 in their first game in the Top Division. Since then both teams have had differing seasons, All Saints upwards and Corinthians downwards. I can’t see anything altering tomorrow with yet another convincing win for All Saints.

Zion Athletic host Halesowen Zion, both teams representing Zion Christian Center from Halesowen. If the fog keeps away Zion Athletic will keep the pressure on the top boys with a slim win against their brothers in arms.

Should Phil Deeley stick with Jadon Silva at the back then Amblecote’s chances of winning against St Thomas Aldridge are increased, but St Thomas’ found the net 4 times in the first half against Sheldon last week so they know where the net is. I wished I knew the teams before predicting this one, I’m going with Jadon at the back and 3 points for Amblecote.

Rowley College overcame Sandwell United 2-1 in their previous game and like the game above, I wished I knew Rowley’s team before forecasting this, saying that, I reckon Pete Bennett, Mike Ibrahim and Mark Southall would love to know their team 20 minutes before the kick off as well! I’m going with Rowley to win this, leaving Sandwell, like Corinthians facing almost certain relegation.

Division Two

With Lighthouse and Dynamo both folding Division Two is very tight at the top end of the table. Teams playing tomorrow can take advantage of current League Leaders Connect Sports having a week off.

Charlemont Star host Wolverhampton and Perton who suffered a surprise defeat last week to Wollaston Free Athletic. Both teams need a win here, Charlemont to keep their outside hopes of the title alive and Wolverhampton to cement their position at the top end. I’m going for a tight game to end up as a draw, possibly goalless.

I reckon Chawn Hill Church will beat Rockmount but not by the 5 clear goals they beat them by earlier in the season.

Renewal Solihull travel to Darkhouse and a win there will keep them in contention, especially as their post Christmas form is normally better than their first half of the season. Darkhouse desperately need to win to hold out any hope of promotion. I take the lads from Solihull to win and make the top of Div 2 even more enthralling.

Division Three

Pye Green Towers travel to Rowheath Paviilions to play Monyhull Church, they narrowly beat them on the opening day but I don’t envisge a tough game for them tomorrow. Pye Green to win by at least 3 goals…that prediction will have Monyhull with a 10 man defence

Maple leaf Rovers play Living Hope Church, last time winning 4-3. Maple Leaf have faltered over the last couple of weeks and I don’t see tomorrow as changing their fortunes at present. Living Hope are my Dark Horses for the title and they will win this one tomorrow. No pressure now then eh Steve?

Brierley Hill AOG roll on and on, can they keep their title aspirations alive against struggling Saint Michael tomorrow? A quick glance at the Div 3 Table suggest a slam dunk for the boys from the Hill, but I’m going for a repeat of their opening day fixture result with a draw.

Dudley Lions have propelled themselves up the table with 2 good wins and I bet Steve is hoping I will predict another loss for them this week against Place Of Refuge Community Church. November was an excellent month for Steve’s lads hitting the old onion bag 22 times in 4 games! All things point to a Dudley win so I’m predicting Place Of Refuge to spring a surprise win, forcing themselves back in contention for promotion.

Zion City travel to the famous South Rd to play Hawbush. Zion had a great win last week taking them well away from the bottom. Hawbush only narrowly losing to Pye Green. I watched Zion City last season and they had some rapid players. I reckon Aaron’s Hawbush team will struggle with Zion’s pace and for this reason alone i go with a Zion City win.

I hope you are all enjoying the Previews, what would help folks is for more Match Reports to be sent in, to help me with the weekly Review.
