Not too bad a week for my forecasts in Division One with 4 out of 5 correct. Jadon Silva’s X-Factor letting me down haha.
St Mary’s Luke Wiedeman bagged a hat-trick in their comprehensive 6-0 win over local neighbours St Thomas Aldridge to leave them sitting top of the pile over the Christmas period. Another body blow for St Thomas’ lads but in all honesty this was an expected result.
Sheldon have 5 different goalscorers in their 5-3 win over Amblecote and whilst Jadon scored one of Amblecotes 3 goals, his X-Factor presence was not enough for my forecast of an Amblecote win to come true. Sheldon stay hot on St Mary’s heels with this win. Amblecote will still be looking over their shoulders at the relegation area.
Luke Charlton netted twice in All Saints Olympic’s 5-0 win over Halesowen Zion in a result I expected. All Saints having goalscorers from all over the pitch whereas Halesowen are struggling in this department.
Shawn Devonport texted that he had choked when seeing my prediction of a Clarendon win and promptly sent it to all of his lads. I believe Zion had a chance to take a 2-0 lead and upon such chances are matches won and lost. Everton Morrison who needs no second chances to score notched twice in Clarendon’s close 3-2 win over Zion. (I have since found out that Shawn has tonsillitis so maybe that’s the cause of him choking…get well soon matey).
A 4-2 win for Rowley College, (Sammy Nelson 2), over Corinthians Sk gave me my 4th correct forecast but after reading Pete Bennett’s Match Report it would appear to have been a closer game than I anticipated.
Only 2 matches played in Division 2 with Chawn Hill Church overcoming Darkhouse 4-2, to move into top place.
Renewal Solihull stay up there with the leading pack with a narrow 3-2 win over Wollaston Free Athletic.
As forecast, Maple Leaf came home empty handed from their game with Pye Green Towers who themselves keep the pressure on Living Hope Church to win their games in hand to stay in the hunt for the title. Adam Beech netting twice for Pye Green in their 5-0 win.
Dudley Lions proved too strong for Brierley Hill A.O.G with a 3-1 home win moving them into 2nd place.
An excellent response from Hawbush’s young guns following their thumping the week before. 2 goals for Amblecote’s old boy Simon Ashby and 1 for Lee Perks was not quite enough for a win, with St Michael’s Kamil Lason also scoring 2 and Adam Domachowski netting in this 3-3 draw. Both teams can take a lot from this game, but I believe more so for Hawbush with this point moving them 1 clear of bottom placed Monyhull.
Thomas Queensborough scores 2 in Zion City’s 5-0 win over bottom placed Monyhull Church. Zion have hit a bit of form since losing 5-1 to Pye Green Towers on November 23rd, scoring 18 goals in their following 3 games and in so doing, leap frogging Maple Leaf and Brierley Hill in the table.
So with City Church vs Sandwell United and Selly Oak Methodist vs Rockmout United postponed that left 11 games played last week. I got 9 correct and 2 wrong. Not too bad in my eyes.
Look out for my forecast for this week and my seasons review so far. Hopefully, I will do them tonight.
