Match Report – 3rd October

Hopefully the first of many Match Reports off various Clubs this season, but the first one comes off Josh Prentice from Delph Athletic regarding their win over Living Hope Church United.

Delph Athletic 6 vs 2 Living Hope Church United

Delph Athletic started the new 20/21 season well with a 6-2 win over Living Hope Church.
Whilst both teams seemed to have a nervous start, Delph took advantage of having a free man off a whipped cross and Jack Follis headed the team into a 1-0 lead.
After the restart, Living Hope came out strong and piled on the pressure and found pockets of space and punished Delph because of their poor organisation and went into half time 2-1 up.
Whilst struggling to take hold of the second half, Delph made substitutions and changed into a 4-4-2 where they then started to find their rhythm and control the tempo of the game. After making a darting run and cut back by George Grant, Delph were awarded a penalty which was taken confidently by Luke Williams.
With their tales up, Delph went on the hunt for more and were in total control of the game, taking full advantage of a tiring Living Hope side.
As a result, Si Carswell and Nat Harding slotted home 2 goals each to ensure the win was confirmed.
Whilst the score line might be convincing, the overall performance was below par and Delph look to build upon this week into next where they host local rivals Dudley Lions.
