Before leaving home to attend a match, players (or parents/ guardians on behalf of) and staff members should assess whether they have any symptoms of COVID-19, for example, a high temperature or fever, a new continuous cough, new unexplained shortness of breath, loss of taste, or smell etc.
Anyone showing any of the above symptoms should stay home and not attend any sessions when they are showing symptoms of COVID-19 or have had close contact with a person with COVID-19.

I was pleased and surprised last week in so much, that even after all the rain that had come down we did not lose a single match on our opening week of football. Unfortunately for me though, Pete from Rowley has taken the lead for the Club Secretaries getting 5 predictions correct compared to my 4, with neither of us getting a correct scoreline.
Both Divisions have a familiar look to them with Connect Sports and St Thomas’ Aldridge sitting top in their respective Divisions. Connect made light work of City Church with Leon Naylor bagging his first hat-trick of the season in their 7-1 win. Another player to bag 3 was Jack Daniel for Rowley College in their 4-1 win over Saint Michael. They say the Table does not lie but I think there is a glitch in the system as Rowley should actually be 2nd and not 3rd on goals scored. (Something for me to chase the website chap up about, only just noticed it)! Clarendon also won by a 3 goal margin overcoming Charlemont Star who I did predict would struggle this season. A tighter affair saw St Andrews’ Netherton beat Chawn Hill Church 2-1, something that throws my seasons prediction into doubt. So, we have 4 teams all with 3 points in Division 1, it could be 4 with 6 points following tomorrow having just had a quick glance at tomorrow’s matches…more study required before my prediction.
Division 2 didn’t see any hat-tricks but 2 players netted twice in Delph Athletics 6-2 win over Living Hope Church United, Simon Carswell and Nat Harding being those players. Ash Hamer also netted twice in St Thomas’ Aldridge’s 6-1 win over Brierley Hill A.O.G. The St Thomas defence letting me down as I predicted a 6-0 win! I believe Monyhull Church snatched all 3 points in the final moments of their match against Dudley Lions to make them the 3rd team on 3 points. The result of the day for me was Selly Oak Methodist drawing 1-1 against Christ Church Coseley, I had forecast an easy win for Christ Church but it did not turn out that way at all.
Loads still to do so it will be a very brief preview for tomorrow’s games.
I fully expect another steamroller performance from Connect Sports who play Charlemont Star, I just simply do not know how many goals to predict them to get! That will take Connect to 6 points, something I fancy that Rowley College will be on as they travel to Rowheath to play City Church who will be looking to keep a tighter defence than last week. I also take St Andrews’ Netherton to be sitting on 6 points as my inside information leads me to believe it could be a weaker Saint Michael side than normal. (Note: St Andrew’s Netherton vs Saint Michael has a venue change and will take place at Saint Michael’s home venue). The last game sees 2 WMCFL Historical Big Guns meet each other with Clarendon hosting Chawn Hill Church. I predicted Chawn to finish 2nd but even after 1 game I am wavering a bit, especially as a late dismissal last week for 2 yellow cards will rob them of one of their influential players… I am struggling with this one.
If one match has me struggling in Division 1 then all 4 matches do so in Division 2. Leaders St Thomas’ Aldridge have what I would have considered to be an easy win over Selly Oak Methodist prior to last weeks result but if push comes to shove, then it’s still a narrow win for St Thomas. Delph Athletic also knew where the back of the net was last week but will it be so easy against Dudley Lions? Probably not, but it’s still a win for Delph from me. I must admit to still being in a bit of a shock regarding Christ Church Coseley drawing last week, something they can ill afford to do if they have ambitions to be top of the pile. Monyhull Church obviously play until the final whistle winning late on last week. Can they do the same tomorrow, I am leaning towards Christ Church, just not enough. So it’s a draw for me. The last match sees Brierley Hill A.O.G host Living Hope Church United with both teams looking to get their first 3 points of the season, will there be a winner ? Not for me, it’s a draw again.
Thanks to Steve Helsdon from St Thomas’ Aldridge for being this weeks Prediction Challenger.
