Seasons Predictions

Today is the day. The day that you have worked so hard for all Summer. The hard slog to get yourself as fit as possible so that when the first whistle blows of your season you can give it your very best. Whatever the season holds out for you, today you have hope of winning, goals galore, least ditch tackles being made and failing that a look at your keeper in awe at that fantastic save he has just made. We wish everyone involved within the League an enjoyable season.

So, how will your team fair this season? In seasons past there has usually been a forecast on how teams will fare over the forthcoming 8 months. Time constraints and the fact that this would just be sheer guess work on my behalf has led me to the decision not to do this. However, knowing that some of you need something to discuss prior to your games I have decided to carry on with my weekly forecasts but with a new twist. Each week I will do my results and try to predict the scores. The difference this season will be that there will also be forecasts from a Club Secretary in direct competition to myself. So it’s Kovacs’ vs Club Secretaries. Points awarded will be 1 point for a correct result, 3 points for a correct result and score. Points will be totaled up at the end of the season with the loser making a donation to charity. Should I lose then the best performing Club Secretary can nominate the Charity, so a little bit of competition between themselves as well. Game On!

One name immediately came to mind for the first challenge, someone who has given us plenty to read over a number of years. A certain Pete Bennett from Rowley College. I did consult with Pete about whether we should leave off the actual individuals Clubs Match but his quote sums him up… “No, make us suffer (I mean predicting your own result is an agony of psychology and superstition!)” Fair play buddy and I do agree with this, (Club Secs will be agonizing over their result), hahaha.

Pete Bennett
