Monyhull 0 Living Hope 5
Steve Farley writes;
November was seen out with another fine Saturday morning. Cool breeze and sunshine.
A slight panic early doors with both myself and manager Carl running late. However we weren’t a rudderless ship with Callum and Jase organising in our absence – thanks guys!
LHC started brightly and quickly took control. With a couple of early strikes just wide we went ahead from a free kick won thirty yards out. Pete waited patiently before delivering a perfect ball at the feet of the running in and unmarked Webby, who calmly hit home from 5 yards at what looked a very fine angle.0-1
We continued to dominate but good defending by Monyhull kept us at bay for the next twenty minutes before a good run from Pete ended with his shot only parried by the keeper. Quick as a shot Callum picked up the loose ball, turned and shot from close range 2-0
The half hour mark saw us score from our best passing sequence of the game. Robbie started the intricate passing move involving several players before our man of the match Nick played Pete in for a one on one with the keeper making no mistake 3-0
Right on the death before half time Martin made a run down the left wing and his cross shot caught the keeper in no mans land and it was over his head and into the net 0-4
The second half didn’t see us hit the heights we were expecting. Monyhull showed extra resolve and only conceded when Craig received the ball on the right side of the box before finding Pete at the far post, scoring at close range after his first attempt was blocked by a defender 0-5.
It could have been a bigger score line – 2 goals narrowly ruled offside and two fine saves from the Monyhull keeper keeping the goal tally to five.
Well done Monyhull on a battling second half performance and thanks to the officials who kèpt good order throughout.
