23rd November Preview

Well it’s been a while since we have a weekend preview but I will try my best.

Division One:

The Match Of The Day would appear to be the clash between All Saints Olympic and St Marys, a game that All Saints Olympic in all likelihood must win to hang in the title race. Should St Marys win they will strengthen their claim to the title with half of the season played. Other teams have games in hand but points in the bag for St Marys will put pressure on the chasing pack. You would fancy Sheldon to beat Halesowen Zion but Dave Walters lads are never an easy team to play but home advantage may swing this one. The likes of City Church and Zion Athletic need to win their respective games against St Thomas Aldridge and Sandwell United should they wish to still be considered outsiders in the title race. Defeat for either team would probably mean that their title aspirations for this season are over. The final game between Rowley College and Amblecote is a tough one to call. Amblecotes need to win is probably greater than Rowleys but I reckon both teams will end up with a point apiece from this game.

Divison Two:

With Chawn Hill Church and Renewal Solihull having no fixture this week it gives the surrounding teams a chance to make the Division 2 title race even more enthralling. 2nd place Connect Sports take on Wollaston Free Athletic and would be expected to win this one. However, should Wollaston win they will propel themselves into the list of teams in the promotion race. I think experience will tell and Connect Sports will bag all 3 points. Selly Oak Methodist, (who suffered the most through Dynamo Kingswinfords withdrawal), host Charlemont Star. This looks like an away win but Selly Oaks confidence will have been boosted following their away win at Rockmount last weekend. Wolverhampton and Perton take on Darkhouse in a mid-table clash with the victors aiming to improve their promotion push. I would have called this a home win but following Wolverhamptons surprise defeat in the Cup last week I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up all square after ninety minutes. Lighthouse travel to Rockmount and whilst they seem to be struggling to adjust to Division 2 I would expect them to come away with all 3 points from this encounter.

Division Three:

Maple Leaf Rovers QMC travel to South Rd to play Brierley Hill AOG. A win for Maple Leaf would really strengthen their promotion aspirations with Brierley Hill needing to win this to stay in touch with the current top 3. Brierley Hills lack of goals means I would expect Maple Leaf to come away with the 3 points. Zion City make the trip to Pye Green Towers and whilst Zion City had a great win last week I expect them to be travelling home empty handed. Dudley Lions have home advantage against Monyhull Church and whilst they do not score a lot they have a mean defence. Dudley Lions should win this but I think Monyhull may just pinch a point here, either way I don’t expect a goal feast in this game. The final fixture is a repeat of last weeks Cup fixture between Saint Michael and Place Of Refuge Community Church. Place Of Refuge had an emphatic 5-0 win last week and I fully expect them to win again.

League Cup:

Living Hope Church play Clarendon to conclude the 3rd Round of the Cup. This would normally be formality for Clarendon with all the experience and quality they have had over the years. However, for one reason or another they seem to be struggling this season and with Living Hope having strengthened their squad with some experienced players themselves, notably Pete Falconer and Martin Woodall, they may just fancy springing a surprise. However, I still take Clarendon to win this tie, especially if Everton Morrison turns up with his scoring boots on.

Well, that’s it folks. Hope I mentioned every match. My first attempt at a weekly preview. I hope to be able to do these more often, time allowing. Make of it as you will, please don’t shoot the messenger and remember, it’s just for fun.
